Diversely outfitted and well-versed in Caribbean cruising, Norwegian Star is a luxury cruise liner that ferries its charm across the Gulf of Mexico through to the crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea. Designed with varied interests in mind, the Norwegian has 14 dining establishments, 9 bars and lounges and several onboard entertainment venues including a casino, library, oasis pool and theatre.
Day 1 - Depart from New Orleans: Forged where a wave of Caribbean flavour crashed into the shore of the southeastern United States, New Orleans is a city of sensory experiences unlike any other - a haven of revelry where hot days meet cool drinks, smooth jazz meets intricate architecture and old charm meets new developments. Sample the world famous Creole cuisine, discover the hidden courtyards of the bohemian French Quarter, and demystify the hype of the Bourbon Street bars.
Day 2 - At Sea: Venture up to the Norwegian's 14th deck, where you can grab a cocktail at the Bier Garten and watch the pale pink sun descend upon the turquoise water.
Day 3 - Costa Maya, Mexico: Relaxing on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Costa Maya is an unspoiled coastal paradise and a town of great historical and cultural significance. It boasts the highest concentration of Mayan ruins in Mexico and devotes a great deal of energy to accommodating those that have come to bask in the beauty of its deep turquoise sea and lush jungle surroundings. Admire its pools and pavilions while you peruse artisan shops, or venture out to explore the Chacchoben ruins.
Day 4 - Belize City, Belize: Shopping hubs and sailboats populate the coast of this architectural treasure, where an ancient Mayan civilization awaits exploration, both deep in the jungle and right out in the city streets. Hike through a jungle trail to survey the crystalline formations that cling to its caves, or board a catamaran to snorkel the barrier reef and break the surface of some of Mother Nature's best kept secrets.
Day 5 - Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras: Entrenched in a rich coral reef and home to Howler monkeys and white sand beaches, Roatan is a diver's paradise. Deserted dirt roads and isolated bays provide prime locales for relaxation, and iguana farms and canopy tours are designed to acquaint you with the region's unique landscapes and wildlife. Let dolphins greet you in the crystal waters, or traverse the rich living reef with a scuba diving or snorkeling adventure.
Day 6 - Cozumel, Mexico: An island of charming shops and feathered festivities, Cozumel, Mexico rests on some of the world's best diving waters, made famous by Jacques Cousteau in the 1960s. The island is also home to several endemic species of birds, and as such is a great place for bird watching. Visit Tulum, one of the most famous Mayan landmarks, or bid adieu to these incomparable waters with a dolphin ride or a deep sea dive.
Day 7 - At Sea: Relax and enjoy the comic talent of The Second City as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary aboard the Norwegian Epic with songs, sketches and improvisations.
Arrive New Orleans: Disembark The Star and take one last amble down the Mississippi in the city where music mingles with friendly locals and world class cuisine.
