Amidst mountains saturated in lush greenery, sprawling sugarcane fields and picture-perfect beaches is the Riu Playa Turquesa, an impressive 4.5 star all-inclusive resort in Cuba's Holguin province that has been under RIU management since summer of 2012. The property prides itself in its open door policy for families, couples, groups of friends and singles alike, and has a slew of amenities for all.

On the Resort
If rest and relaxation is your ultimate goal, or you are more interested in active pursuits, you'll find it all on Riu Playa Turquesa. Here, you will find five pools, including two kids' pools for family fun. If soaking up the sun is your idea of fun, there are plenty of lounge chairs on the decks to relax on, and also some down by the beach if that is where you want to be. There are also a wide variety of non-motorized water sports to partake in, as well as a multi-sports court for those who want to stay active during their holiday. As for nightlife, there is evening entertainment (dance troupes, musicians, etc.) and a disco for those who want to salsa the night away.

Food and Drink
There are plenty of diverse options when it comes to filling hunger gaps and staying refreshed at the resort. There are two all-you-can-eat buffets on site, including La Hacienda, serving delicious breakfast and lunch options and a theme dinner every evening, and Bucanero, located at the beach area with breakfast and lunch options. A la carte dinner options include Creole, Italian, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisine, as well as a grill restaurant. As for bars, there are six in total, from a 24-hour snack bar to a swim-up bar in the pool.

Your Accommodations
Rooms are spacious and decorated in brilliant colours, reminiscent of Cuba's vibrant culture. Room conditioning sets the optimal temperature for sleeping while a private balcony or terrace offers a private spot to check the weather or relax with a beverage. There is also a mini bar, in-room safety deposit box for added security, satellite TV and a coffee and tea maker in every room.
