Plunging deep into the Serengeti, the untamed landscapes and wildly windswept desert sands of Kenya and Tanzania have been beguiling travellers long before the Lion King provoked curiosity about what lay within the natural habitat of lions, giraffes and zebras. Wildlife safaris and reserves are Kenya’s foremost players, while the arresting beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro and salt-sprayed journeys across the turquoise waters of Zanzibar introduce travellers to the majesty of Tanzania. Together these countries form a perfect microcosm of African landscapes, culture and wildlife, where mountains pour down to greet warm desert sands and vivid orange sunsets dismiss unhurried days of adventure.

It's all about the animals
An undeniable draw of the countries of the Serengeti is the exotic animals that graze on the horizon. At your first stop in Nakuru you can observe the bright pink flamingos that roost in this birder watcher's paradise. Next you'll enjoy perhaps the most iconic of all Kenyan adventures - a safari quest deep into the forest of Lake Nakuru National Park (Kenya’s second most visited park). While here, keep a watchful eye for sly leopards and stunning white rhinos. Next you'll have the chance to study the customs of elephants, giraffes, zebras and antelope during an Amboseli safari, and while in Tarangire you'll adventure through the highest concentration of elephants anywhere in Africa.
The epic Serengeti and other spots
The Serengeti is a striking region of Africa where the ancient rhythms of wildebeest hooves linger long after the migration has passed. It's home to the largest and most popular national park in Tanzania where lizards scurry across granite knolls and the great migration leaves thousands of spectators in awe. Enjoy two safaris across the Serengeti’s wide open spaces where remarkable jungle cats laze in the savannah sun before visiting N'Gorongoro - an impressive crater billed as one of East African's most visited destinations. While Tanzania boasts N'Gorongoro, Kenya holds the famous Amboseli reserve tucked into the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.
In the heart of it
Arriving in Nairobi will give you a different taste of Kenya, where shopping, theatres and nightlife offer a different perspective of the country. The Hilton is located in the heart of Nairobi’s business district and within walking distance of its most important sites. At Nakuru Lodge you can enjoy the sun set over Great Rift Valley while sipping a customized cocktail or taking a refreshing dip in the pool, and the next night you'll enjoy accommodations perched high in a tree top. Overlooking golden sands and shaded by a grove of acacia trees, your lodge in Amboseli is at the heart of Maasailand and is decorated to reflect the energy of these legendary, nomadic warriors. In Tarangire you'll rest at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge gilded by ancient baobab trees and admire the dramatic silhouettes formed by animals making their way across the terrain, and other hotels offers amazing views of the Serengeti and N'Gorongoro Crater.
