The Best Travel Tips for Moms
The motto "be prepared" has never been so true than when travelling with kids. And who better to share their best tips than moms who have actually been there, done that and bought the t-shirt.
When travelling on the road with your kids, consider the old adage: Something Old, Something New. A new toy for the kids (it can be something small from the dollar store) will get them excited and keep them occupied. An old, familiar item like a teddy bear or blanket will bring comfort when they're getting tired or cranky.
Be careful about sharing too many details online about your upcoming holiday. While it's tempting to share your vacation plans on Facebook and Twitter, it's easy for your info to get into the wrong hands. Save the posting for
the post-vacation photos instead.
Avoid the inevitable fast food pit stop (and save some money too) on your next road trip by packing a cooler of healthy food. This will allow you to make your stops at rest areas or parks instead, and stretch your legs or burn
off some energy kicking a ball, playing tag or finding somewhere to go to the bathroom!
Throw a couple little lollipops in your purse when embarking on a flight as they are great 'surprise' treats for the descent (by which time kids could be getting restless) and the swallowing helps the kids to keep their ears
open..
When travelling with the kids, keep the car's back seat pockets filled with a few essentials such as crayons, a notebook, and magnetic play sets.
When heading out on road trips, stock the car with snacks that are bite-sized and won't make a big mess such as real fruit gummies, grapes, crackers and cheese cubes.
Bring kids' audio books with you when you'll be travelling a distance in the car. You can download them or find them at your local library.
